This is a place where I can share some of my research pertaining to early settlement and family histories intertwined with the story of Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. I’ve been researching and writing for many years and want to make some of my work more widely available.
This blog was originally designed to share my artwork and creative activities during the years when I was exhibiting widely. My art has now taken second place to refining and publishing some of my research, but I have left the art posts available for perusal.

Only a few days before departure on our ‘bucket list’ trip to the west coast of British Columbia and Vancouver Island, I realized that this was an opportunity to connect with as many FAN (Fibre Art Network) members as possible. I am really enjoying the 5 day art challenges that are currently circulating on Facebook and have just been challenged to do my bit. I must assure you that I don’t mind participating but now I have to make a decision about what to post. Last night I finished #5 in a new series that has been percolating for some time. For details on individual pieces go to my fibre art and Quilts Portfolio. During 2014 I focused on entering mainly ‘juried’ shows and casually pursued some publication opportunities. I was successful in gaining acceptance to all shows entered and had two ‘published’ opportunities – one to be revealed when the book is published in February 2015! We are back to weekend visits! Before Christmas our favorite little person would visit but decide to sleep at home. It seems she sensed that was where the action was and didn’t want to miss anything! However, Grandma has restocked the craft supplies and there were lots of new activities to try. Before Christmas we made Christmas tree ornaments that turned out rather well. Today she demolished the remaining supply of styrofoam balls making snowmen. Mom says she is running out of space for Grandma and McDunc crafts but these went home...

The past year has been an interesting one. A mixture of good and bad times, joy and sadness, successes balanced with unfulfilled dreams. It has been a very busy year, hence few blog posts! My days were often long, leaving little time for reflecting. 2014 included some real successes in my artwork, travel, lots of Grandma time and time spent with new and old friends. One of my goals for 2014 was to apply to as many juried shows as possible. I just heard from the Surface Design Association (SDA) show ‘Edge of the Forest : Exploring Perimeters’ and have yet another piece heading out for travels across Canada.
