Edge of the Forest – Another Juried Show!
One of my goals for 2014 was to apply to as many juried shows as possible. I just heard from the Surface Design Association (SDA) show ‘Edge of the Forest : Exploring Perimeters’ and have yet another piece heading out for travels across Canada. This exhibition features work by Canadian members of the SDA and will open at the:
- Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts (Ontario) and this show will run from March 1-30, 1915.
- John M. Parrott Gallery, Belleville, ON, June 4 to July 9, 2015
- Fibre Conference/Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador, August 15 – October 15, 2015.
We are currently seeking additional exhibition possibilities and hope to move the exhibition across Canada and beyond during 2015 and 2016.
This is my piece ‘Look Up, Way Up (Part 1) in the show.
After the deadline for entries passed I decided to make a companion piece, Look Up, Way Up! (Part 2) It was originally intended for a second show that in the end I decided not to enter. When my entry for the SDA show returns it will be united with the second piece and become part of a diptych.
This fibre art piece was fun to create! The dimensionality I was able to achieve with tyvek made the piece come to life. We have not traveled in the northern part of the Canadian provinces during the winter. This piece was inspired by our summer travels in northern British Columbia a couple of years ago. This year ‘winter’ has appeared in a number of my pieces!
I’ve been negligent and haven’t updated the blog with previous 2014 shows and will do so in the days to come.
Congratulations Diane. These are wonderful!
