Description
This is one of a series entitled ‘Story Pictures’ prepared for a solo exhibition in 2008. In this series I combined my background in quilt art with my love of texture. I am often inspired by the ‘stuff’ I collect or ‘find’. The challenge is to find items in proportion to the size of the finished piece and in this series I was constrained by the size of the frame selected. The ‘frame’ is a drawer from a desk that I dismantled and recycled. I loved the black wood grain interiors. In each of these pieces, the quilted component is mounted away from the back of the ‘frame’, adding dimension.
