Starting a New Project – Abstracted
For a change of pace I’m going to share some of the photos that I looked at when starting this project. The finished piece will be 18″x45″ so the shape of the piece will be a challenge in itself.
This piece will be an entry into a FAN (Fibre Art Network) exhibition in 2013 entitled Abstracted. This show requires artists to work with a partner, one artist develops a representative art piece and the other develops an abstract/non-representative art piece using a common subject. The pieces will be developed collaboratively and will be hung side-by-side. I’m partnering with Judi MacLeod from Victoria and we have not yet met in person.

I realized as I worked through my photos that I am drawn to landscapes but this collaborative work presents more challenges. So I looked at some that provided a closer perspective.

Judi shared a number of her photos as well. In the end we independently selected a photo of the same kind of Lichen from our collections and the one above, from my collection, was the one we selected for this project.
